What we follow

The principles described by Carl Rogers, a leading exponent of humanistic psychology, are central to our work.

Humanistic psychology emphasizes a person´s direct experience and immediacy, focusing on personal growth, the possibility of change and self-realization.

Some strands in psychology are based on determinism - the belief that everything a person experiences and behaves has a cause, is determined by external and internal influences, i.e., does not originate from the person him/herself, and the person has no control over them. Humanistic psychology emphasizes man´s  free will and taking responsibility for his actions. The main influence on a person´s behaviour is the way he or she subjectively experiences and how he or she interprets and evaluates this experience. Man is viewed as an indivisible whole to be understood holistically.
